Baptismal Preparation.
Before parents bring their children for Baptism they are required to attend a two evening course of preparation. Courses run six times per year on alternate months. The programme of preparation always begins and ends with prayer and reference to scripture runs throughout the whole. In the first session we explore the nature of Baptism, why people bring their children for Baptism and the History of Baptism. This is followed by an explanation of the symbols of Baptism.
In the second session we enact the Rite of Baptism and give practical advice about it. The responsibilities of parents and godparents are explained as we offer ideas for living out the faith as part of the parish and at home.
The Sacrament of Baptism itself is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month with the exception of Advent, Lent and August. Contact: Katy Gore
